In June of 1998, Nationwide Health & Aged Care Services identified the need to implement a quality assurance program, achieving this goal in November 1999. We operate in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 9001 : 2000, and are a quality assured company, (certificate No. 12804). In addition to this, Aged Care and Health Related facilities can be confident we meet all accreditation standards required from providers of external services.
Occupational Health and Safety
Nationwide Health & Aged Care Services, in conjunction with our clients, is dedicated to providing a safe working environment for all employees, clients', staff, residents and visitors to sites. Specific Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures developed and instituted by our business include the following:
- To know and practice the Statutory Health and Safety regulations/requirements.
- To perform risk assessments of all tasks involved in the provision of operation and implement risk controls.
- To provide occupational health and safety training and manuals based on risk assessments and incident history.
- To encourage and monitor staff in the use of safe working practices within their designated work place, by conducting periodic inspections of workplace practices and procedures.
- To strive for NIL workplace accidents or injuries due to worker carelessness or disregard for safety to self and others.
- To investigate and report any workplace accident or injury, so that reoccurrences of same can be avoided in the future, by improving management and staff awareness of how the accident/injury could have been prevented.
- To encourage staff to wear protective clothing, such as gloves, safety glasses, correct footwear etc., when carrying out hazardous tasks or handling hazardous chemicals/materials.
- To make staff aware of the chemical manufacturers material safety data sheets applicable to products used by the company and its employees. Such awareness to include: precautions to be taken, correct dilution rates and correct usage and handling.
- To use appropriate caution/warning signs to help protect others from operations being carried out. e.g. Caution "Wet Floor", or "Cleaning in Progress" signs.
- To ensure staff clean and correctly maintain equipment, and to immediately report any equipment faults such as worn or broken electrical leads which could be dangerous to himself/herself and or others.
- To know and practice recommended techniques in the handling of materials and equipment e.g. correct lifting techniques.
- To have staff attend refresher training programs on occupational Health and Safety to keep abreast of new or updated practices and or procedures.
- To ensure employees dispose of unwanted, used or obsolete chemicals/materials in the manner prescribed.
- To make employees fully aware of any dangerous or hazardous conditions or circumstances which could exist within client premises e.g. cleaning in testlaboratories.
- Providing correct orientation of staff on company expectations and legal requirements relating to safe and proper work practices.
- Ensuring that chemicals are identified, labelled and decanted the correct way, and that all information on products is readily available to staff and clients.
